A few years back, Julie made it her mission to ensure that every child diagnosed with Pompe Disease has a comforting companion by their side during treatment. She came up with a lovable Sloth named Hope.
Julie firmly believes that every child deserves to have hope for a better future, and she hopes that one day there will be a cure for Pompe Disease.
Julie began by sending every child in the UK with Pompe disease a personalised fluffy sloth complete with a name tag and cute clothing. These cuddly companions could accompany them to doctor’s appointments, hospital visits, or simply be snuggled at home.
What began as a UK initiative quickly grew into a global phenomenon, and now Julie sends out these adorable sloths, named Hope, to children worldwide who are living with Pompe disease.
